The upgrade process includes the following tasks:

  1. Downloading the files you need to perform the upgrade.
  2. Installing an upgrade bundle on the VCE Vision Core virtual machine.
  3. Upgrading the compliance content on the VCE Vision Core virtual machine.
  4. Upgrading the VCE Vision Plug-in for vCenter.

Download upgrade file

From VCE Download Center download vcevision_upgrade-3.0-xxxx.vce

Snapshot

Create a snapshot of the Vision Core VM in case something goes wrong


Installing the upgrade bundle


  1. Copy vcevision_upgrade-version_build.vce to the /root directory via WinSCP
  2. To start the upgrade, run sh vcevision_upgrade-version_build.vce. 
  3. Follow the instructions of the upgrade wizard
  4. Reboot the VM as per instructions

Upgrading the compliance content 

  1. Copy the RPM file to /tmp
  2. Change to the directory that contains the RPM file.
  3. Run rpm -Uvh rpm_filename-build_number.rpm
  4. Run cd /opt/vce/compliance/content.
  5. Run sh install_content.sh
  6. Authenticate to the CAS service when prompted.

Update vSphere Webclient Plugin

  1. Run cd /opt/vce/plugins
  2. Run rpm -Uvh vce-plugin-version_number-build_number.x86_64.rpm
  3. Log in to the vSphere Web Client with administrative privileges.
  4. Select Administration in the left navigation pane on the Home window.
  5. Locate the VCE Vision Plug-in for vCenter section and then select Settings.
  6. Set connection properties and click update
  7. Restart the web client services on the vCenter Server virtual machine.
